Itinerary

Day 1: Broome to Windjana Gorge
Depart Broome and journey into the heart of the Kimberley, travelling via Derby and stopping to see the famous Boab Prison Tree before continuing towards the spectacular Napier Range. Settle into your campsite near Windjana Gorge for your first night beneath the Kimberley stars.

Day 2: Windjana Gorge to Bell Gorge
Rise early to explore the towering limestone walls of Windjana Gorge, carved through the ancient Napier Range and renowned for its dramatic scenery and wildlife. Continue along the Gibb River Road to Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge), where cascading waterfalls and beautiful natural pools create one of the West Kimberley’s most memorable landscapes. Tonight, camp at a Gibb River Road Station.

Day 3: Manning Gorge & Galvans Gorge
Spend the day discovering two of the Gibb River Road’s best-known natural swimming spots. Explore beautiful Manning Gorge, with its rugged escarpments, sandy banks and refreshing waterholes, before visiting picturesque Galvans Gorge, a secluded oasis framed by rocky cliffs and Kimberley bushland. Return to our camp at a Gibb River Road Station for your final night of camping.

Day 4: Gibb River Road & Kununurra
Continue your journey along the legendary Gibb River Road, travelling through vast cattle stations, rugged ranges and classic Kimberley landscapes. Visit El Questro’s spectacular Emma Gorge, where a rewarding walk leads through the dramatic Cockburn Ranges to a beautiful waterfall and natural swimming hole. Continue to Kununurra and settle into the Kununurra Country Club Resort.

Day 5: Mirima National Park & Lake Argyle
Take a leisurely morning stroll through Mirima National Park (Hidden Valley), often described as a miniature Bungle Bungles, along one of its many short walking trails, followed by lunch nearby. This afternoon, head out to one of the Kimberley’s most magical experiences — a sunset cruise across the vast, island-studded waters of Lake Argyle. As your boat winds through the lake’s northern reaches, keep an eye out for rock wallabies, freshwater crocodiles and the diverse birdlife that calls this inland sea home, before settling in to watch the sun sink behind the Carr Boyd Ranges with a drink in hand. Dinner is at your own expense in downtown.

Day 6: Purnululu National Park & Bungle Bungles
Today is the centrepiece of your Kimberley journey — a full-day scenic flight from Kununurra into the heart of Purnululu National Park. Your day begins with a scenic flight over the Ord Irrigation Area, Lake Kununurra and the full expanse of Lake Argyle, taking in views of the Carr Boyd and Osmand Ranges before landing at a remote unsealed airstrip deep within the park. From there, transfer by air-conditioned 4WD to explore the Bungle Bungle Range on foot, with a guided walk among the striped, beehive-shaped domes on the Domes Walk. Continue into Cathedral Gorge, where towering cliffs open into a natural amphitheatre with awe-inspiring acoustics, for a well-earned lunch. Walk along the sandy bed of Piccaninny Creek and learn about the Kimberley’s six seasons and the traditional custodians of this ancient landscape. Your return flight to Kununurra takes in further spectacular views, including the Argyle Diamond Mine.

Day 7: Kununurra to Fitzroy Crossing
Travel the Great Northern Highway west toward Fitzroy Crossing, watching the landscape shift as you leave the eastern Kimberley behind. En route, stop at Geikie Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs rise from the Fitzroy River — take a short walk along the riverbank, or join an optional boat cruise to spot freshwater crocodiles and wildlife beneath the ancient gorge walls. Settle in for the night at Fitzroy River Lodge, on the banks of the Fitzroy River. Tonight, stay at Fitzroy River Lodge.

FAQ

What fitness level is required?
This tour travels through remote regions on unsealed and corrugated roads. Travel is in a forward-facing 4WD vehicle; while comfortable, some sections may be bumpy. Guests should be comfortable with uneven terrain, gorge walks, swimming or wading through water, and warm daytime temperatures, often above 30°C. A moderate to active level of fitness and mobility is required.
Medical Requirements
Please advise any medical conditions on your Passenger Information Form prior to travel. Due to the remote nature of the tour, unadvised requests may not be possible to accommodate. Bring all required medications for the duration of the trip. If refrigeration is required, please note this in advance so arrangements can be made. 
What should I bring with me?
Luggage is restricted to One Soft Bag per passenger (no suitcases), weighing no more than 15kgs + One Small Backpack/Day Pack.  
  • Small Overnight Style Soft Bag (No Hard cases or Suitcases) 
  • Swimmers & towel, if you wish to swim anywhere during our trip. Accommodation has pools. 
  • Lightweight clothing (shorts & t-shirts are fine).

Yes, we cater for most dietary requirements if you notify us when you complete your online check-in. 
What type of accommodation is included?
Bedding configurations vary by location. Some stays offer double bedding only whilst others will offer twin–share. For nights 1-3 there will be stretcher beds and tents offered due to the Western Kimberley region due to its remote location. Further details are outlined within the itinerary.

Bungle Bungles Scenic Flight fitness levels: If you don’t have a moderate level of fitness at the time of your booking, the pilot on your scenic flight has the right to refuse you boarding the plane. The reason for the scenic operator’s decision is that upon arrival at the dirt airstrip there’s no shaded or waiting area if passengers cannot join and complete the walk.
