Inclusions: All travel. A one-way ticket* on Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. A one-way ticket* on Kuranda Scenic Railway. 3 hours free time in Kuranda, the Village in the Rainforest. Accommodation in Standard Queen /Twin/ Triple
Kuranda, the Village in the Rainforest, is located on the banks of the Barron River, high in the mountains above Cairns. Its relaxed vibe includes two large markets, a range of buskers and a few rainforest walking trails. There’s cafes, restaurants and pubs. Galleries, boutiques, jewelry shops and more. The best way to get there is a combination trip of Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Kuranda Scenic Railway, which is what we’ve included in this fantastic day of exploration.
It begins with a 7.5km ride over the rainforest treetops, on Skyrail. Travelling in 6-person gondola cabins, you’ll enjoy panoramic views over the rainforest and Cairns hinterland. There’s the option to stop at two rainforest mid-stations along way, where you can enjoy a Ranger guided tour and walk on the cantilevered viewing platform over the Barron Gorge (included in tour price). It’s a 90-minute, one-way journey, from Caravonica to Kuranda.
Enjoy 3 hours free time in Kuranda and return to Cairns in the afternoon, on Kuranda Scenic Railway. This historic rail journey tracks along and through the Barron Gorge National Park, including many tunnels. Arrive back at your hotel at around 5.30-6pm.
Inclusions: Transfers to and from accommodation to the boat. Transfers to and from the Great Barrier Reef. All meals and snacks throughout the day. Snorkel and scuba dive equipment. Marine Biology presentation. Up to 6 hours at the Great Barrier Reef, visiting 2 reef locations. Unlimited snorkeling. Option for a scuba dive. Glass bottom boat tours (pending conditions). Accommodation in Standard Queen /Twin/ Triple. [Dinner not included]
This is an amazing day spent exploring the Great Barrier Reef. Transport is on a spacious and comfortable boat, which gets you to the outer Great Barrier Reef in style. Enjoy up to 6 hours at the reef, visiting 2 separate reef sites. Unlimited snorkeling, including equipment and instruction, and the chance for a scuba dive. Glass bottom boat tours provide a different perspective (run, pending weather conditions).
There’s also time for you to relax on the boat and enjoy the weather. Meals and refreshments are available and included throughout the day. This includes a bacon and egg roll on arrival, a fresh buffet lunch and cheese, crackers and a cold refreshment served on the way back to Cairns. NB: Additional cold drinks and ice-creams are available for sale from the bar, at additional cost. BYO towel.
“We have a selection of 5 spectacular reef locations including Breaking Patches, Jorgensen Patch, Hastings Reef, Norman Reef & Saxon Reef. Each day, the Captain assesses the weather and other conditions and selects up to two optimal diving and snorkelling reefs based on the comfort and safety of the passengers and the vessel.”
Inclusions: All travel, including an informative commentary by an accredited tour guide. Mossman Gorge. Daintree River Cruise. Daintree Rainforest Walk. Cape Tribulation Beach. Lunch, refreshments and all attractions and activities mentioned. Accommodation in Standard Queen /Twin/ Triple
Get ready to explore the ancient World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. Today we collect you in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and head north on the Great Barrier Reef Drive. Mossman Gorge is our first official destination. A beautiful gorge carved out by the Mossman River and tumbled with large granite boulders. You have the option to swim in its cool, clear waters, before we continue to Daintree Village for a restaurant lunch with a range of meals available.
After lunch, enjoy a 1-hour cruise on the Daintree River where you might see crocodiles, birdlife, turtles and more. We then cross the river on a cable ferry and head deep into the rainforest. A guided boardwalk tour allows you to see more of this complex, tropical environment up close. Our most northern point of the day is Cape Tribulation beach, the only place on earth where two natural World Heritage sites – the reef and rainforest – exist side by side. From there we retrace our steps to Cairns, but not before a final stop at a local Daintree Ice-Cream Company where you’ll be tempted with unique, tropical flavours (which can be purchased at your own expense).
Inclusions: Airport Transfers
Sadly, all good adventures come to an end. Today it’s time to check out of the hotel and catch your transfer to the airport. We thank you for choosing Discovery Tours Australia and look forward to seeing you in Cairns and Tropical North Queensland, some time again soon.
